What is XELA?

XELA is a world first solution to the age old problem of what an organisation does with all the data that is gathered and what real value and insights can be returned to the business. XELA provides the power to seamlessly collate data sets from any source, perform algorithmic calculations and analyse  any range of variables to return insights, trends and predictions of patterns in behaviours. This is Artificial Intelligence and advanced predictive analytics at its most powerful.

All SMG products can include the addition of XELA. This allows for continuous improvement delivered directly to the organisations we support and provides a multiplier to those who are using a range of solutions.

Harnessing the power of any data source through the integration of connectivity technologies, apps and the Internet of Things (IoT) allows SMG and its partners to bring the potential insights drawn from the actions of many to better understand individual behaviours.

Our Methodology

We use statistical data to extract statistically significant relationships and behaviour patterns.

Any parameter you can measure is a data source. We collect data from various sources.

We also formally model (subjective) expert knowledge, as we understand that (objective) statistical data does not always explain everything.

We combine authoritative data, statistical findings and expert knowledge to make predictions.

Some technical points:

  • in addition to regression models, we use hierarchical probability models that are more accurate (we avoid unrealistic assumptions from the regression models)
  • our models are automatically adopted to new data
  • we can make predictions in cases of incomplete data (predictions will be adjusted when new data is received)

XELA has embedded capabilities for advanced predictive data analyses that include flexible descriptive statistics and powerful predictive statistics. The algorithms within XELA accommodate a range of predictive statistics tools:

  • Machine learning
  • Stochastic modelling
  • Extreme value theory
  • Classification
  • Optimisation
  • Realtime data collection
  • Supervised and unsupervised learning
  • Expert opinion and Bayesian belief networks
  • “What if” analysis and simulation

XELA allows for the integration of many programming languages and tools, for example; ‘R’, SPSS and SAS. The predictive capabilities are a natural evolution of descriptive statistical methods.

Users are able to perform “what if” analysis by simulating various conditions without any specific technical or statistical knowledge – simply change parameters and the impact of the change is displayed.

By making the potential outcomes visible before changes are implemented in real life thereby reducing risks and costs and measuring return on investment. Ultimately increasing performance, revenue and retention.
